MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY AND HOW IT WORKED FOR ME - MAY 2008

Since October, I have lost 15.2 kgs and although I still have a little way to go, it has made an enormous difference to my life – how I look and how I feel about myself and to my utmost surprise, the reaction of people who see me in clothing other than billowing dresses for the first time in 10 years.

My week starts on Tuesdays with my weigh in and encouragement from our lecturer Mercia and her assistant Jennifer. I have dropped from a size 44 to a 38 in these few months and I have to say that it is all about the eating plan. I have been unable to exercise because I have a bad hip so there is absolutely no doubt that the WW eating plan works 100%. I went to gym before joining for 8 months and did the circuit, floor exercises, at least 30 to 40 minutes of cycling and aerobics every visit five days a week only missing on public holidays over Christmas and about 2 days when I was away. I never lost one centimeter or half an ounce of weight which was so depressing for one who is not a gym addict. I gained nothing from putting everything into it then gave up and still had to carry on paying for the 4 months that I did not go until the contract expired. Weight Watchers is 100% effective, less expensive, and you see results quickly!

Since 9th October, I have not put on weight once and I have remained the same on three occasions (includes Christmas, my Mom’s 81st birthday celebration, my grandson’s christening and a week at Kob Inn where all meals are included). For the one week that I did not lose weight, I had had hardly any water to drink and now realize that this is such an essential part of losing weight. I make sure I drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day – not my best, but the results show that it is worth it.

I am so looking forward to losing another 5 kgs which will really make that statement as far as I am concerned. I have made just a couple of changes to my life :
1) I eat three proper meals a day
2) Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day and
3) I make sure that the food that I have in the house is diet friendly and all things that I like so that when I eat, I enjoy it.

I must say that I have not craved sweet things at all which I find amazing. My consistent weight loss is my motivation to carry on and achieve my goal weight and I have to say that Tuesdays are all important and I would not miss unless I have no option. I have also made sure that I fill in my tracker every day so that I know what I have eaten. It is easy to forget things here and there. One of my biggest downfalls was cheese – I ate it with every meal and then some! Just cutting off a few slices as I passed the fridge. Now I only have cottage cheese and the habit of craving the fattening ones is no longer there.

I have not worn trousers in years because of my weight and last week I bought three pairs! It really was fantastic to do up the zip easily, and think that I looked good. Long may this last. And to all of you who battle like me – there is hope – you just have to want to lose weight badly enough and it will happen.

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SLIM FEELS!

Not even cheese!
