MY UP-HILLS AND DOWN-HILLS! - JULY 2008
Mia KlinghardtWeight Watchers Member I’ve never been the diet type – not even at school. I weighed 75 kg when Torsten and I got married (July 1996). 18 months later when Austin was born – I’ve had a few extra kg’s but did not even think of going on a diet – as I knew that I would love to have a second child! So four years and two months later Monique was born. Going in for my C-section with her – I weighed a whopping 94.5 kg’s – wearing a size 44 dress size! (January 2002)! My weight struck me when my sister and I went looking for an outfit for me to wear to Monique’s Christening (June 2002) – and I could not fit into a size 40! I had to be satisfied with a size 42 – till this day I dread looking at those photo’s because – I felt like a big fat slob! That was my turning point – weighing a full 87.5 kg’s – was it! Well I’ve started with Weigh-Less (as my sister in law had the plan) – and it was fine – up to a point – where her plan did not work anymore. I’ve then heard about Weight Watchers – and thought that I should give it a try. The first time that I’ve joined Weight Watchers – was in August 2004 – I had to lose weight – as my 10 year High School reunion was around the corner. I’ve attended the classes from August 2004 – October 2004 – then I’ve stopped. Thinking that I have the plan – and that I can do this on my own! Sorry – to burst my bubble – having the plan – and thinking that I could do this on your own – just did not work! So I’ve re-joinedfor the 2nd time in September 2005 – again only for a few months – and then quit again! In September 2006 after returning from a business trip to Dubai – and gaining 1.5 kg’s within 4 days – I knew this hadto be now or never!!! Getting on to the scale with a whopping 81.2 kg’s – I knew that this was the last time and this time – I’m going for GOAL (GOLD). We went on a boat trip in February 2007 and I wanted to feel good about myself!
We’ll needless to say – it was still a struggle (almost like riding on a see-saw) – and I’ve realised numerous times that if your “head” is not in it – thenyou are truly wasting your time. Weight Loss is not just a matter of eating the right stuff and exercising – if your mind set is not right – then it will not work. By having the right mind set – this encourage you to have more and more will power – to resist temptation! It was not an easy road – but I’ve finally reached goal weight beginning of 2008. I’ve realised that this was it! And that I would never go back to my old habits! I’VE REALISED THAT:
